RESURRECTION ROLLS
Crescent rolls
melted butter
large marshmallows
cinnamon
sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Give each child (YW) a triangle of crescent rolls. The crescent roll represents the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in.
Give each child a marshmallow, this represents Jesus.
Have them dip the marshmallow in melted butter, which represents the oils of embalming. Then dip the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar which represent the spices used to anoint the body.
Then wrap the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll (not like a typical crescent roll up, but bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow inside.) This represents the wrapping of Jesus' body after death.
Place in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. The oven represents the tomb.
When the rolls have cooled slightly, the children can open their rolls (cloth) and discover that Jesus is no longer there, He is risen. (The marshmallow and the crescent roll is puffed up, but empty.)
Brody and Tate making the rolls and eating the marshmallows
Eating the rolls and acting like little monsters.
Right before the boys ate their rolls Tate looks at me really serious and asked "we can eat Jesus Mom?" I just love that kid and laugh at everything that comes from his mouth.
My mom once said something that has really stuck with me, she said "kids these days live in a scary world and as parents we need to make sure that we give them plenty of opportunities to really feel the spirit so they can gain a strong testimony for themselves." I thought of this when last week we went and saw the Easter Pageant, truthfully it had been a while since Mike and I had been, the thought of battling my kids through the program kept me away, but that was where I was wrong, my boys really enjoyed it and were much better than I had anticipated them to be. So now we will be starting a new tradition, a tradition that I had growing up and we will go every year because my kids need to see the temple and feel of the spirit that surrounds it.

that is the same talk that really hit me too. good luck! this world is so scary, I hate thinking about the things that will be around the older our children get.
those rolls look super yum! better FHE's was one of my new year's resolutions! We can do it!
I LOVE Tate! I need to meet him. I totally started laughing at his little comment. The rolls are a cute idea, and right now sound really yummy!
Very cool idea Amber, I will give you all the credit for it. I am glad you guys were able to see the Easter pagent. I hope that we can find ways to keep the spirit in our kids lives forevor. Jessica and I are worried because Belle is starting to want to be just like Mommy and Daddy, and we hope that we can be good enough examples to get her through this tough world that we live in. The children were saved for this time because they are special and they are the strongest so hopefully as moms and dads we can do our parts to see them down the right path. -Chad
